The meetings of Di.T.M.O. and FIMUA, the Italian Federation of Human and Animal Mycopathology, are the only two national events devoted solely to fungal infections. In the last two years economic constraints have forced us to reduce the number of symposia and the length of the Congress, but this has not led to lessened interest in the topics.
This year’s edition focuses on clinical and diagnostic aspects paying special attention to therapeutic advances (new drugs and new indications) and new diagnostic strategies. The meeting will also tackle antifungal stewardship since rationalization of these drugs, like all antibiotics, has become an essential task for all large hospitals.
